 - David Osborne - Senior Consultant

David has a degree in economics from Trinity College Cambridge. He started work as a trainee investment manager in 1966, before moving to a large City-based firm in 1971 to manage pension funds, charities and private clients. In 1977 he moved to manage syndicate funds for a large Lloyd’s managing agency, and continued to manage Lloyd’s funds until 1989.

The Meridian business was started in 1984, and in 1989 became a stand-alone business providing a variety of investment-related services to the insurance market. David started our performance measurement service in 1990, and investment consultancy in 1995. He is Director of Meridian Performance Services Ltd.

 
 
Marcus Johnson - Senior Consultant
 - Marcus Johnson - Senior Consultant Marcus Johnson has spent 25 years at the interface of the investment and insurance markets and has written widely on the use of investments by insurance entities.  He has been involved with Lloyd’s and London Market Companies for slightly longer and is widely recognised as an authority on the use of financial markets by insurers  He is Managing Director of NW Brown in Cambridge, a medium-sized IFA.  He is a non-executive Director of Meridian Performance Services Ltd.
 
 
George Blunden - Senior Consultant

George Blunden has been actively involved in financial investments  for most of his career, holding senior positions at the investment management firm AllianceBernstein Ltd (from where he retired as Senior Vice President in December 2009),  Union plc (CEO 1992-1997), SG Warburg Securities (Director 1985-1992) and Seccombe, Marshall and Campion plc (Director 1979-1985). George has extensive insurance knowledge having been a non-executive director of Beazley since 1993. 

George also has considerable involvement in a number of charitable activities including being Chair of Southern Housing Group(1991-2005), Chair of Raglan Housing Association and Chair-designate of Charity Bank. He studied politics, philosophy and economics at Oxford University. George Blunden joined Meridian as Director in March 2010.

 
 
Kate Miller - Consultant

Kate joined Meridian in October 2003 as an Assistant Consultant and is Chief Operating Officer of Meridian Performance Services Ltd.

She began her career at Safra Republic Investments Ltd in 1995, working with the fund management team, before moving to British Energy to work on its privatisation. In 1997 she moved to Premium Management as an assistant fund manager specialising in Lloyd's funds, and became a junior fund manager when Premium was bought out by Credit Agricole in 2000.

Robin George was Group Treasurer at Wellington Underwriting until their acquisition by Catlin.  He has worked in the London insurance market for over thirty years and has wide-ranging experience as an Investment Manager and Treasurer.

 
 
Jon Manning - Assistant Consultant
 - Jon Manning - Assistant Consultant

Jon studied Management at UMIST before starting his career at HSBC Investments on their graduate program. He completed rotations in Institutional Sales, Product Development and Asset Allocation whilst also studying for the CFA designation. After 3 years Jon left HSBC for Meridian to work as an assistant consultant. Jon continued his studies at Meridian and became a CFA charterholder in August 2009.

 
 
Robert Gibbs - Assistant Consultant

Robert joined Meridian in January 2010 and is focusing on investment manager research and analysis.

Prior to joining Meridian, Robert worked within the institutional team at HSBC Global Asset Management and has worked within the asset management industry since 2007. Robert holds an undergraduate degree from the University of York in Economics and Economic History and a master's degree in Political Economy from Newcastle University. Robert has also completed the IMC.

Adam has come back from his military service in Afghanistan, slightly injured, but has now had a motorbike accident, and won’t be back until 2010. We look forward very much to welcoming him back then.

Adam started his career in financial services in 2001 working for Aberdeen Asset Managers in their institutional fixed income team where he remained for just over a year before starting a degree at University in Bristol. After graduating with 1st class honours in Business Decision Analysis, Adam joined Meridian Investment Consultancy in June 2005.

Robert Ford - Research Analyst
 - Robert Ford - Research Analyst Robert first joined Meridian temporarily in 2006 as administration support. Afterwards he became a Technical Analyst with Hewitt Associates working on their Pensions Valuations team for a couple of years. He rejoined Meridian in February 2008.

Robert has a 2.1 in Mathematics from the University of Sussex and has completed the IMC.
